Together with principal partner Intuit Quickbooks Australia, Accountants Daily presented the winners of the Australian Accounting Awards at a five-star gala dinner in Sydney this evening.

You can view the full list of winners here.

This year, the Australian Accounting Awards recognised the fundamental role accountants play in the SME community, as well as in the health and wellbeing of their clients and their staff.

Further, the awards recognise the business acumen, technical skill and innovation of the Australian accounting profession at all levels — from directors and support staff to partners and students.

The team from Intuit Quickbooks Australia was out in force at the event, congratulating finalists and winners, and celebrating the significance of the accounting community in Australia.

Intuit Quickbooks Australia told Accountants Daily they congratulate all finalists and winners on their stellar achievements.

The big picture

Head of editorial at Accountants Daily, Katarina Taurian, told the crowd - accountants, bookkeepers, winners and finalists - of the significant role they play in Australia.

“We’ve just had an election result which stunned the pollsters, the bookies, and even the prime minister himself. In fact, Scott Morrison was so shocked with his win, he opened his victory speech with “I believe in miracles,” she said.

“Do you know who did pick the result? You did. We have been polling accountants for 12 months, and irrespective of their own political views, they told us ‘I can’t see my clients voting for these tax changes,’” she said.

“What that tells us is you have got your finger on the pulse with influential individuals and business communities. Even more importantly, you have got their trust,” she said.

“Tonight, we celebrate how powerful you are as a community in Australia, and encourage you to use that power for the progress of your profession.”
