lass="p1">CPA Australia, is calling on young Australians to seize the opportunities presented by artificial intelligence. Gavan Ord, CPA Australia’s Business Investment Lead, says that AI is reshaping business models and potentially lowering barriers to entry, making this an opportune moment for young people to start a business.

“Encouraging more young Australians into business ownership isn’t just good for them, it’s vital for the economy,” he said.

“AI gives young entrepreneurs the ability to innovate and scale quickly, which will help revitalise Australia’s small business sector and strengthen our long-term economic vitality.”

CPA has emphasised that policymakers should support entrepreneurship as a career path and provide young business owners with additional aid, such as digital access and capability training.

While Ord acknowledges the need for further government support, he urges young Australians not to delay their entrepreneurial aspirations.

“Embracing AI will be key to boosting productivity and economic growth. Young Aussies should be proactive, leveraging AI, professional advisers and mentors to follow their entrepreneurial and creative instinct.”

According to Ord, the capabilities of AI enable small businesses to automate processes, analyse data, and can provide young business owners with a competitive advantage.

“For young Australians with ambition, AI provides the tools to help them compete locally, nationally, and on a global stage.”

“Rather than viewing AI solely through the lens of misuse and workforce anxiety”, Ord encourages a shift in perspective, saying “we should recognise it as a launchpad for young entrepreneurs,” he said.

Ord’s statements reflect a wider discussion of how technology can be harnessed to create new opportunities and drive economic resilience.
