MYOB has made a move to help small business owners complete their admin “on the go” with the launch of a new app, MYOB Assist.

The accounting software giant has unveiled the launch of MYOB Assist, designed to help small business owners “take control of their admin” from anywhere at any time.

The new development was launched following feedback that business administration was one of the biggest time-eaters for SME owners, with 56 per cent of SME owners spending more than half their time on managing their internal business operations.

It was noted that the new feature would be built into every MYOB Business and AccountRight subscription and feature browser-based AI smart matching and categorisation.

According to the company, it was built with the purpose to transform time-consuming admin tasks, such as invoicing and expense capturing, into “simple, effortless tasks so owners could focus on running their business”.

Dean Chadwick, MYOB chief customer officer, said small business owners were often on the move and had a constant juggling act to manage receipts, invoices and payments.

“MYOB Assist puts powerful, easy-to-use expense capture and invoicing tools in their pocket, helping them feel in control and freeing them up to focus on their customers, not their paperwork,” he said.

“Through smart technology that works quietly in the background, the app can reduce admin stress and help small businesses feel confident, in control, and ready to grow.”

Chadwick revealed the new development included a ‘snap and track’ feature for receipts and real-time invoicing, as well as the app having the ability to sync with a user’s browser, which would enable them to “bill on the fly and capture expenses on the spot”.

In addition to this, Chadwick said data from the latest MYOB Business Monitor revealed that time spent on meeting tax compliance obligations was the biggest challenge to profitability for one in five respondents.

MYOB said it believed the new development would be welcomed by SME owners, as by making their admin mobile and manageable, they could feel confident that they were on top of their workload and well-prepared for tax time.

Adrian Zatz, MYOB customer, said the app had been successful in helping save time and reduce admin by simplifying invoicing and expense capturing.

“As soon as I finish a job, I can send an invoice on the spot – no delays, no extra admin. The interface is simple, clean and seamless to use, and having an all-in-one expense and invoicing app that I can use on the go has really saved me time.”

“Now I can focus my efforts on the core drivers of my business – editing, video production and animation – instead of paperwork.”
