AI integration no longer optional for accounting firms

Technology

With artificial intelligence rapidly changing how accounting firms deliver services, communicate with clients, and manage internal processes, a new event is launching to bridge the growing capability gap.

By Accountants Daily 8 minute read

AI Edge for Accountants launches in Sydney on 17 September, offering a one-day, hands-on program tailored for partners, directors, and owners of accounting firms seeking to build a more streamlined, efficient, and scalable business.

Developed by Captivate Q and limited to only 40 participants, the event delivers a practical and strategic approach to AI implementation across advisory, compliance, client communication, and workflow automation.

“Firm leaders increasingly understand that AI isn’t a threat – it’s an inflection point,” said Louisa Thomas, program director at Captivate Q. “This program is designed to help accountants move from experimentation to meaningful adoption, through proven frameworks and systems that apply directly to the realities of running a practice.”

The workshop will be facilitated by Adam Franklin, a respected AI coach, digital strategist, and bestselling author with over two decades’ experience advising professional services firms on digital growth and operational leverage. Franklin is also a regular judge at the Australian Accounting Awards and has trained thousands of practitioners to streamline and grow their practices using AI and digital systems.

Operational efficiency meets strategic execution

AI Edge for Accountants will challenge the misconception that AI reduces trust or personalisation, instead examining where partners and teams are spending time on low-value, repetitive tasks – such as emails, client summaries, or reporting – and how these can be automated using proven frameworks and free tools.

The course includes practical case studies from Australian firms already implementing AI in areas like compliance communications, workflow documentation, and business development. Participants will also receive a suite of free tools and strategies to reclaim 10-plus hours per week, improving both capacity and advisory output.

Attendees will learn to build AI prompt libraries using the Prompt Stack™ system, designed to reduce time spent on content drafting, proposal writing, and standardised communication. Live demos will illustrate how properly structured prompt workflows can deliver results up to 100 times faster than manual processes.

Franklin will also guide accountants through training AI to replicate their firm’s context, brand, and client voice and build a personalised 12-month roadmap to embed AI into their firm’s systems, team workflows, and service delivery infrastructure.

Built for leaders

Organisers have emphasised that AI Edge for Accountants is built for leaders serious about adoption and integration, not just passive observers of the emerging tech.

“This isn’t a panel of futurists talking about 2040,” added Thomas. “It’s about what accounting firm leaders can do right now to unlock time, increase productivity, and build a more scalable, efficient practice.”

The AI Edge Series will soon expand to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide. Registrations for Sydney are now open, with strong early interest expected to fill the limited seats quickly.

Dates for other cities will be announced shortly. Accountants are encouraged to join the waitlist to be notified when events launch in their region.
