Reckon tackles ATO document processing with new partnership

Technology

Accounting software provider Reckon has announced a new partnership as it looks to help reduce the ATO administrative burden placed on practitioners.

Reckon has announced a new partnership with ATOmate, a document processing tool that promises to process over 20 ATO documents, including notice of assessments, statements of account and tax debts.

The ATOmate platform fully integrates with both Reckon’s APS Practice Management and Elite platforms.

“With the ability to bulk scan multiple types of ATO documents at once, or download files from the ATO Portal, the solution is capable of identifying the documents, and managing each according to their type,” said Reckon strategic partnerships manager Tony Douglas.

“Not only this, but ATOmate automatically redacts each client’s TFN, allowing ATO documents to be automatically emailed to clients without any security risk.

“In fact, a task that once took up a vast amount of time is now fully automated and has reduced processing time by nearly 90 per cent.”

According to Mr Douglas, ATOmate automatically compares ATO documents to the estimation in a firm’s practice management system before validating them, filing them and sending them onto the client.

Discrepancies that are picked up will be flagged, and the solution will send the notice of assessment straight to the accountant for further investigation and action.

Stan Corner, chief executive of Business Automation Works, the team behind ATOmate, described the partnership as a “natural fit”.

“There’s so much potential for practices taking advantage of this technology, and by partnering with the global leader in practice management, we’re excited to be able to help accountants across Australia and New Zealand create capacity that they can direct back into creating invaluable client relationships,” Mr Corner said.
