Tax Office updates low-cost STP providers list

Tax

The ATO has updated its list of companies intending to provide simple, low-cost single touch payroll solutions for micro-businesses.

By Jotham Lian 8 minute read

The Tax Office first published its initial list of suppliers late last year, with prominent software providers and a big four firm featuring.

The solutions are required to be affordable, that is, cost less than $10 per month, take only minutes to complete each pay period and do not require the employer to maintain the software.

According to the ATO, these solutions may include mobile apps, simple reporting solutions and portals.

The latest suppliers’ list update coincides with the start of the ATO’s push to start contacting small employers who have 19 or less employees to get them to start reporting before legislation passes.

You can view the full list of companies looking to offer the low-cost STP products on the ATO’s website.

Last year, the ATO confirmed micro-businesses would have more flexibility than larger businesses in applying the STP framework. You can read more about the parameters for micro-businesses here.
