ATO in the firing line

In Tuesday night's Budget, the government announced it anticipates that over the four years to 2017 the Australian public service will be reduced by 16,500.

“The largest reduction in public service jobs will be in the Australian Taxation Office,” said a joint statement from Senator Mathias Cormann, minister for finance and acting assistant treasurer, and Senator Eric Abetz, minister for employment and minister assisting the prime minister for public service.
