The MRA is a part of the broader effort from the IPA to increase support and visibility for the accounting profession in Fiji.

“This MRA seeks to form a strong bond between the two organisations through reciprocal recognition, membership and education pathways, providing opportunities for members in the region, and more broadly through the IPA Group globally,” said Andrew Conway, chief executive of IPA, one of the largest global accounting organisations.

Established in 1972 the FIA is the only professional accounting firm in Fiji. With approximately 1,000 members, it is one of the largest professional bodies in the region outside of Australia and New Zealand.

The MRA will allow the institutes to promote the transfer of skills and knowledge as well as general support around professional development, migration and ethics and represents the broader effort from IPA to increase support and visibility for the accounting profession in Fiji.

“The FIA is delighted to enter into this more formalised relationship with the IPA Group. It is clear that the FIA and IPA are well aligned to ensure that our members continue to grow and develop,” said FIA president Pravinesh Singh.

“As we emerge and continue to deal with the impact of the global pandemic, the support between professional accounting organisations has never been more important.”
