iscover IPA signs deal with Sri Lankan member body
RegulationThe Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) has signed a mutual recognition agreement with a professional association in Sri Lanka, in a bid to share knowledge and resources.
The agreement started on May 24 this year with the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA Sri Lanka).
CMA Sri Lanka has been a member body of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) since 2014. IFAC is a global body for professional accountants comprised over about 175 members. CMA Sri Lanka is also a member body of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA).
“We will provide CMA Sri Lanka technical and educational resources to build their capacity and professional development,” said IPA Group chief executive officer, Andrew Conway.
“This agreement will also lead to the transfer of knowledge and sharing of experiences between both Institutes,” said Mr Conway.
For the IPA, this follows its expansion into the United Kingdom (UK), through its acquisition of UK-based Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) back in 2015, and the launch of its new digital platform which services members in both Australia and the UK.
