The Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) has today announced changes to its education offering, a move which is aimed at ensuring its members have a competitive advantage.

The IPA has announced changes to its professional program, replacing its Master of Commerce (Public Accounting) with a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

“The accounting profession continues to evolve and our members undertaking the IPA’s MBA professional program will be well-placed to provide the essential advice their clients are seeking as their trusted advisers,” said IPA chief executive officer, Andrew Conway.

“As the only Australian professional accounting body offering an MBA as its professional program, we believe our program raises the bar to meet the expectations of clients and businesses.”

The IPA has partnered with Victoria-based Deakin University to deliver the IPA MBA Program as well as the IPA Internal Pathway Program.

The six units to complete the IPA MBA include: Business Process Management, Strategy Capstone, People Management, Marketing Management, Principles of Leadership, and a Small Business Advisory unit.

“Deakin University is delighted to be working with the IPA, an Institute that continues to raise the bar of professionalism, to deliver this high calibre program,” said Deakin University Vice-Chancellor Professor Jane den Hollander AO.

“We commend the IPA’s effort to encourage members to elevate their education standards for the benefit of their clients and the wider community.”

This follows news yesterday that the IPA has undergone a brand refresh, including the launch of new logo for its operations in Australia and New Zealand.
