ATO reminds small businesses of crucial deadline
BusinessThe ATO has urged small businesses to prepare for crucial compliance deadlines, with some firms still falling behind on their obligations despite a deadline extension.
Businesses that are still paying their super by cheque need to start paying sending super payments and employee information electronically in the SuperStream standard format, the ATO said.
“Those businesses already paying electronically by EFT or BPAY directly to their funds may also need to make some changes, and are encouraged to contact their fund,” said the ATO.
ATO deputy commissioner James O’Halloran said the ATO has given small businesses extra time to prepare, with the mandatory compliance deadline now 28 October.
“With just one quarterly payment date left until this deadline, I am encouraging local businesses to make preparations now,” said Mr O’Halloran.
“We understand that setting up for SuperStream may take some time, however it is a one-off commitment and once established it is easy and ready to use for each contribution cycle.”
