The firm will be known as Moore Stephens and will employ close to 100 staff, delivering a wide range of accounting and business advisory services.

Don Boyd, chairman of Moore Stephens Australia, said he is thrilled with the outcome of the merger and believes the two firms’ like-minded cultures will ensure a seamless process as they align operations.

“Moore Stephens Australia is thrilled to be welcoming the former UHY Haines Norton Perth team into the network and further enhancing the capabilities of our Perth practice," Mr Boyd said.

“Perth is a rapidly growing city and a crucial gateway to doing business with Asia. We look forward to working closely with the enhanced team.”

UHY Haines Norton Perth chief executive Michael Bennett said the merger provides a great platform to build an exciting future in Western Australia.

“From our very early conversations it was obvious that the two firms had great synergies and a desire to provide opportunities for all their stakeholders," he said.

“Both practices pride themselves on their relationship-driven culture and personal interaction will remain at the heart of all we do. The active involvement of partners in all engagements means clients can be confident they have access to an expert and troubleshooter, wherever and whenever they need it.”

Following the announcement of the merger, UHY Haines Norton chairman Michael Coughtrey said the firm is evaluating new opportunities in WA and hopes to announce the establishment of a new Perth office soon.

“We have enjoyed an outstanding reputation in Perth and we expect, given the strong value of the UHY Haines Norton name together with our worldwide UHY International network, an alliance will be an attractive proposition to a number of quality practices," he said.
