Chartered Accountants ANZ (CA ANZ) has issued an apology to provisional CA ANZ members who could not complete their Audit and Risk (AR126) exam on Tuesday last week after a third party exam delivery platform malfunctioned.

"We sincerely apologise to affected candidates and acknowledge and understand their frustration, given the time and effort they have invested to meet the high benchmark set by the CA Program," the professional body said.

CA ANZ said it was treating the disruption caused by the failure of the exam platform seriously and was throughly reviewing the incident.

"This issue was caused by a failure in the external exam platform operated by a third-party provider. CA ANZ worked with the provider to resolve the issue," it said.

The professional body noted that exams held on 11 march had proceeded successfully despite the issues with the platform earlier in the week.

"CA ANZ has offered affected candidates a choice of alternative arrangements, including a replacement exam date, an existing alternative exam sitting later in the term, or the option to withdraw from the subject without academic or financial penalty in accordance with our academic policies," it said.

CA ANZ said the options offered are designed to maintain fairness and equity across our entire subject cohort, while upholding the integrity of the Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting.

"This includes ensuring that all qualifying assessments are conducted under consistent, secure and rigorous conditions, in line with professional and regulatory expectations," it said.

"To further support preparation for the replacement exam, students will have access to complimentary exam support resources from our CA Study Masterclass (CASM) offering, as well as a dedicated teaching team webinar to be scheduled."

The professional body renewed a contract with education software provider, Janison, in July last year, for the provision of assessment technology and services.

Under the contract, worth approximately $2 million, the software firm will continue to provide remote proctored assessments for the CA Program through to June 2028.

The company also supports CA ANZ’s content creation strategy, working alongside the professional body's teams to enhance capabilities through collaborative human-AI partnerships.
