‘This cause means the world to us’: NSW accounting firm donates $9k to animal rescue

An accounting firm based on the NSW Central Coast has doubled down on its support for animal rescue efforts in the region, donating funds that will go directly to food, shelter, and medical care for stray cats and dogs.

Tax Stuff, an accounting firm based in Gosford, NSW, has donated $9,040 to the Society of Companion Animal Rescuers (SoCares), a registered NFP, which manages the Charmhaven and Erina Animal Care Shelters, providing safety and second chances for stray cats and dogs across the Central Coast, rehoming animals, and pioneering positive reform in shelter management.

For every tax return filed between July and August 2025, Tax Stuff pledged $20 to SoCares. Thanks to overwhelming client support, the firm said, the initiative raised $9,040, “more than double last year’s donation”.

Tax Stuff director and owner Brad Anthonisz is passionate about the cause, having adopted a staffy-ridgeback cross named Charlie from the Erina shelter three years ago. Charlie has, the firm said, since become an unofficial office mascot.

The donation, the firm said, is part of Tax Stuff’s ongoing commitment to giving back to the community, “not only through quality accounting services, but also through partnerships with local organisations like SoCares and The Entrance Hockey Club”.

Anthonisz said: “This cause means the world to us.

“Last year we were thrilled to donate just over $4,000, but this year our community helped us more than double that figure. It’s proof that when locals come together, we can create real change in the community.

“Supporting SoCares is my way of saying thank you, and encouraging others to support local initiatives. Accountants are uniquely placed in their local business communities due to the services we offer as accountants.

“It places us at the heart of things. I think we can inspire other businesses to directly impact the community by way of supporting local causes, which in truth benefits all involved.”
