The accounting body has announced it will provide a CA-embedded master of professional accounting in partnership with Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) to give accounting students a distinguished postgraduate qualification.
The university revealed it was now the exclusive Victorian partner of CA ANZ, which would allow students to simultaneously complete a master of professional accounting in conjunction with the study requirements of the chartered accountants program.

Dr Reza Tajaddini, department chair of accounting, economics and accounting, said the partnership created a new and unique pathway for students “aiming to earn a distinctive postgraduate qualification to accelerate their career”.
“This innovative program allows students to complete all the educational requirements to become a chartered accountant while earning a master’s degree – in just two years. It is the most efficient pathway of its kind in Victoria,” Tajaddini said.
According to the university and CA ANZ, the program was the first, in both Australia and Asia, to integrate topics including financial technology, AI, blockchain, financial crime and cyber security through a fintech specialisation.
Students undertaking the course would be set to benefit from a range of career-focused CA ANZ initiatives, such as an employability masterclass and an executive mentoring program.
According to CA ANZ, the topics and initiatives would assist in equipping the enrolled students with relevant skills and knowledge to “be at the forefront of the accounting profession”.
Ainslie van Onselen, chief executive of CA ANZ, said the partnership would officially begin from semester two of 2025.
“We are very excited about our first collaboration with a Victorian University. We love our relationships with the university and academic community,” she said.
“We are excited particularly about the embedded master’s program that means students can do the CA program earlier. They’ll be job-ready earlier and be able to accelerate their technical and ethical competencies. And at the same time, they’ll qualify for the master of professional accounting.”
