Xero announces workpapers solution in partnership with BGL

Business

Xero has revealed its newest partnership with BGL Corporate Solutions to provide its accounting and bookkeeping partners a new workpapers solution.

Xero and BGL Corporate Solutions, a compliance and AI-powered paper-to-data software provider, have joined forces to provide a new workpapers solution to save time finalising client accounts and preparing tax returns on Xero.

According to Xero, this would allow the direct import of client bookkeeping data from Xero, which would reduce manual entry through the automation of data flows.

Ultimately, this would help partners save time in finalising client accounts, preparing tax returns and financial statements, Xero said.

Angad Soin, Xero’s managing director, Australia and New Zealand and global chief strategy officer, said the partnership with BGL followed extensive user feedback.

“We’ve listened to feedback from our accounting and bookkeeping partners and this partnership is an exciting opportunity to combine Xero’s robust accounting and tax features with BGL’s leading compliance expertise. Our accounting and bookkeeping partners will have a workpapers solution that will simplify how they manage their compliance workflows,” he said.

“Deeply integrated with Xero’s platform, this solution will make preparation, review and completion of workpapers seamless all in one platform, which will mean less manual work, fewer errors and a faster turnaround time on client jobs.”

Xero noted that its Australian accounting and bookkeeping partners would have the opportunity to gain early access to the new workpapers solution in the near future to provide feedback before the following initial product launch.

The workpapers solution was set to be integrated into Xero’s compliance and practice tools over the next few months and would connect with Xero subscriptions, such as Xero Tax, reporting, as well as client records and staff permission management from practice tools.

Daniel Tramontana, chief executive of BGL, said the developed partnership would provide Xero partners with the solutions they had been asking for.

“As a Xero ecosystem app partner since 2018, BGL is well positioned to launch this new workpapers solution with Xero,” he said.

“Together, we will develop a workpapers solution that will accommodate the diverse needs of accounting practices of all sizes to minimise manual data entry, and generate efficiencies in completing client accounts and preparing tax returns.”
