ATO appoints Second Commissioner
AppointmentsThe ATO has confirmed it has appointed a “strong and capable lead” to the role as Second Commissioner for the Tax Office.
Kirsten Fish has been appointed Second Commissioner for the ATO. Effective immediately, Ms Fish will retain the role for a seven-year period.
According to a statement provided by the ATO, Ms Fish has been acting as Second Commissioner leading the law design and practice group at the ATO for the past 12 months.
She was previously the ATO’s chief tax counsel and head of the tax counsel network, where she provided technical leadership of significant tax issues, cases and rulings.
Prior to joining the ATO, Ms Fish was a tax partner at BigLaw firm Clayton Utz.
“A strong and capable leader, Ms Fish champions the effective administration of the tax, superannuation and business registration systems,” said Commissioner of Taxation Chris Jordan upon welcoming Ms Fish to her new role.
“Ms Fish is passionate about building the community’s trust and confidence in the ATO, and is an inspirational leader for ATO staff who value her empathy and integrity.
“I congratulate Ms Fish on her appointment and look forward to continuing to work together in the years ahead.”
