The Australian Accounting Awards recognises excellence across the entire accounting industry, and showcases the individuals and firms which are leading the way in the industry.
Addressing viewers in his opening address, Accountants Daily editor Jotham Lian said it was more important than ever to recognise and celebrate the role of accountants in the midst of COVID-19.
“I truly believe that accountants and bookkeepers have risen to the economic challenge like no other profession — standing as a critical link between the government’s stimulus measures and your clients,” Mr Lian said.
“The accounting profession has truly embodied the Australian spirit. So many of you have gone pro bono, spent hours fielding calls from your clients, spending nights and weekends poring over complex legislation, rules and guidance material, while juggling the pressures of running your own practice in uncertain times.
“It is because of this that is it now more important than ever to recognise your hard work and to celebrate your achievements.”
