The move, announced to clients and staff yesterday, will see the two networks share access to resources and branding once finalised.

A spokesperson told Accountants Daily that all offices in the UHY Haines Nortons and Sothertons network are independently owned, and there will be no staff changes as a result of the merger.

Sothertons became affiliated members of the UHY Haines Norton network last year.

UHY Haines Norton chair, Michael Coughtrey, believes it’s a tough market for mid-tier accounting networks looking to attract new members.

“Most mid-tier accounting networks are finding it difficult to attract new members who can underpin the expertise of the wider group while aligning with the core values of member firms,” he said.
