UNSW Sydney and KPMG yesterday announced they locked in a long-term strategic partnership on 8 December. It will include leadership and management advice and training for UNSW faculty staff as well as provide opportunities for students in real-world environments.
“The newly formed partnership embodies UNSW’s priority to increase its engagement with the best in business to enhance the skills of its staff, accelerate the adoption and impact of research and to provide enhanced opportunities for its students in the workplace,” said Professor Brian Boyle, deputy vice-chancellor, enterprise, UNSW Sydney.
There is a focus on the teaching style of UNSW staff, for example, who can collaborate with KPMG through workplace secondments, formal learning in general management and an assessment of their leadership behaviours.
“KPMG is thrilled to partner with UNSW Sydney, creating a unique relationship between academia and professional services. We have already gained so much by working collaboratively, rather than in isolation of each other,” said Morgan McCullough, KPMG lead partner for UNSW Sydney.
“This is a long-term commitment and so we’ll continue to discover new ways in which we can inspire confidence and empower change for our students, staff and communities.”
The news of this partnership comes as dissatisfaction with the state of accounting education in Australia continues to mount from university leaders, students and businesses alike.
