NTAA appoints Robyn Jacobson as senior advocate
AppointmentsThe National Tax & Accountants' Association has announced the appointment of Robyn Jacobson as its senior advocate, strengthening its advocacy and support for members.
In the newly created role, the NTAA said Jacobson will ensure that the voices of tax and accounting professionals are clearly represented in policy and regulatory discussions across Australia.
Jacobson was most recently the senior advocate at The Tax Institute, a position she held for more than five years. She is highly respected in the tax and accounting profession following a prominent career in accounting, tax training and advocacy.
Commenting on her appointment, Jacobson said she was passionate about ensuring tax and accounting professionals are heard and supported, particularly at a time of increasing regulatory complexity.
“In this newly created role, my focus will be on advocating for practical, workable outcomes that reflect the real‐world challenges faced by NTAA members and the clients they serve," said Jacobson.
"I’m excited to be representing NTAA’s members, their clients and the broader profession, and look forward to engaging with our members and key stakeholders on the most important tax issues in an ever-changing environment.
‘I’m also enthusiastic about the launch of our new monthly podcast, Tax Tales, which will be hitting the airwaves tomorrow."
NTAA chief executive Geoff Boxer said Jacobson brought "deep credibility, experience and a clear understanding of the real pressures facing tax and accounting professionals".
"Her appointment provides NTAA members with a strong, informed and practical voice in policy and regulatory discussions that directly impact their practices and clients," he added.
Jacobson has more than three decades in the profession, including a public practice background and more than 20 years guiding the profession in various roles as an expert tax trainer.
She is an avid tax advocate, social media commentator, columnist, podcast host, webcaster and presenter, and is frequently quoted in the media. She champions improvements to Australia’s tax system, with a strong focus on SMEs and supporting practitioners.
She regularly consults with the Treasury, the ATO, the Tax Practitioners Board, the Tax Ombudsman, the Board of Taxation, and professional associations on technical matters. She is a fellow of NTAA, CA ANZ and CPA Australia, and a chartered tax adviser of The Tax Institute.
