The HLB Mann Judd Australasian Association has revealed the appointment of several new partners and directors, while also acquiring a Perth-based business advisory firm.

The firm revealed it appointed Alex Roberts, Alyce Stones, and Jacob Medel to partner across its audit and assurance sector in the Melbourne and Newcastle offices.

Roberts was appointed as a partner in audit and assurance in Melbourne after joining the firm as a graduate auditor in 2013.

HLB noted Roberts had experience working across the private and public sectors and had expertise in external audit, financial reporting, compliance and specialist assurance engagements.

HLB Newcastle appointed both Stones and Medel as partners of audit and assurance based on their extensive experience in the audit space.

Stones was noted to be a registered company auditor with 17 years of experience in audit and assurance services across mining, manufacturing, communications, construction and the not-for-profit sector and often delivered insights that improved financial performance and strengthened internal systems.

Medel was appointed to partner based on his 12 years of experience in audit and assurance services and specialises in the not-for-profit, health, disability and education sectors, as well as having led the development of audit methodology around the NDIS, Primary Health Networks and government-funded programs and schools.

In terms of directors, the firm welcomed Nilan Gandhi, Steve Windsor, Anna Janssen and Natalie Dobinson as directors across its Brisbane, Perth and Newcastle offices.

Gandhi was promoted to director of HLB Mann Judd Brisbane in the business advisory and taxation team based on his experience spanning over 12 years in accounting, tax and business advisory services to corporates, SMEs, high-net wealth individuals and private family groups.

Windsor recently joined the firm as part of its Perth branch as a director of the business advisory services division.

HLB said Windsor had a career spanning over 25 years involving taxation, international corporate services and business advisory.

HLB Mann Judd Newcastle promoted both Janssen and Dobinson to a director role, with Janssen taking on director of advisory services and Dobinson taking on director of audit and assurance.

In Wollongong, the firm also revealed it had promoted Trent Boncompagni to associate in the business advisory and taxation team after joining the firm in 2012.

The various appointments across the network followed an acquisition of A Plus Business Advisors made by HLB Mann Judd Perth to grow its current business advisory division.

With the acquisition also came the appointment of a further two directors to the HLB Mann Judd Perth business advisory division to transition from their director roles at A Plus Business Advisors.

Tony Fittler, HLB Mann Judd Australasian Association chair, said the latest moves reflected the strength of the firm’s network.

“These new appointments and the Perth acquisition reflect the depth of talent within our network, and our ongoing commitment to investing in the next generation of leaders,” he said.

“As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering exceptional outcomes for clients and providing meaningful career opportunities for our people.”

Speaking about the acquisition made in Perth, HLB Mann Judd Perth head of business advisory, Rowan Tracey, said it would build on the firm’s current growth and would bring an experienced team with shared values and philosophy.

“This growth gives us additional depth across several key areas and ensures we continue to offer tailored, practical advice to help our clients navigate the road ahead.”
