Grant Thornton appoints new national head of management consulting
AppointmentsThe professional services firm has named Wi Liem Chua as the next national head of management consulting.
Grant Thornton has welcomed its new national head of management consulting, Wi Liem Chua, effective this month.
The firm noted Liem Chua was stepping into the national role after he stepped into the position of national head of retail and consumer products in June 2023 and was set to hold his placement in both positions.
Having over 15 years of hands-on experience, Liem Chua was well versed in retail and had worked across numerous operational roles, which have helped him to “view client challenges as opportunities”.
The firm said Liem Chua was an expert consultant and specialised in partnering with clients in transformation programs and implementing operating models that ensured clients realised their greatest objectives for customers, people and commercial outcomes.
Speaking about his appointment, Liem Chua said he was looking forward to taking on the new position from his predecessor, Jamie Downs.
“I’m humbled to be stepping into this role, and from a leader who genuinely cares for our clients and people keeping our firm’s CARE values in mind across all decisions,” he said.
“I have worked closely with Jamie since starting my consulting journey, and in the past 18 months we’ve created greater synergy in my capacity as national head of retail and consumer products. Having a mentor and an expert like Jamie in our national team is a privilege and I’m excited to continue his incredible legacy.”
Jamie Downs, Grant Thornton management consulting partner, said Liem Chua was a natural fit for the national head of management consulting role.
“His drive, dedication and inherent curiosity has seen him thrive in consulting since he made the career move a decade ago. As management consultants, we work closely with senior industry leaders – embedding ourselves in organisations to establish their ongoing success and business growth,” Downs said.
“I have no doubt Wil will continue to encourage and inspire our team to deliver strong, successful outcomes, ensuring we provide tailored solutions for our clients and setting them up for the future. For now, I will continue in my role as partner at Grant Thornton, working alongside Wil in his expanded leadership role.”
Having already commenced in the new position, Liem Chua said he and the Grant Thornton team were committed to continuous learning and engaged with “hands-on expertise to support clients in solving complex challenges”.
“I am dedicated to continuing to foster a CARE culture across our national team, driven by a strong belief in striving to exceed client expectations. We approach every engagement with integrity, critical thinking, and a deep commitment to understanding every unique challenge.”
