Ross Corcoran has been welcomed by William Buck Canberra as a partner in the business advisory division, marking the branch’s sixth senior appointment in the country’s capital.
William Buck Canberra noted its merger with Canberra-based firm Dot Advisory, originally founded by Corcoran, would also bring an additional five professionals into the business.

This move marked the firm’s second merger in the region over the last 12 months and was “clear evidence of a long-term commitment to investing in the ACT’s professional services sector”.
Besa Deda, William Buck’s chief economist, said the Canberra expansion came at a time when Australia’s labour market continued to show “remarkable resilience” as the unemployment rate held steady at 4.1 per cent for five consecutive months.
Corcoran’s appointment to William Buck reflected its commitment to building its practice within the ACT, which would have the effect of strengthening the region’s advisory capability and shifting dynamics of the national labour market, according to the firm.
Speaking about his appointment, Corcoran said the merger between Dot Advisory and William Buck was a progressive step forward for everyone involved.
“This merger allows us to continue delivering the personalised service our clients value, while creating new opportunities for our team and the broader Canberra market. It’s a step forward not just for our practice, but for the local advisory sector as a whole.”
The appointment and merger were effective 1 July and would strengthen William Buck’s ability and aim to support Canberra’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
Deda said indicators highlighted that the appointment and merger came at a significantly strategic time, as the job market continued to improve.
“Forward looking indicators such as job advertisements suggest solid job growth can continue and sustain an ongoing tight labour market,” she said.
“William Buck’s expansion in Canberra is well-timed to support this trend, offering professionals and clients alike a stable and growth-oriented environment amid global economic uncertainty and shifting domestic conditions.
Chair of William Buck Australia and New Zealand, Greg Travers, said the merger highlighted the firm’s commitment to the Canberra market.
“This is about building a strong, sustainable pipeline of talent in Canberra. Dot Advisory is joining a firm that invests in people, supports professional growth and is committed to creating long-term employment opportunities in the region.”
