Grant Thornton has revealed the addition of David Haynes to its ranks as an audit partner in its Sydney office, effective 2 June.
The firm said Haynes had over 27 years of big four experience where he worked with a diverse portfolio of clients that ranged from large, complex, multinational listed companies to family-owned businesses.

Haynes was noted to have extensive expertise in these areas, as well as an interest in collaborating with medium-sized businesses such as private enterprises, listed mid-cap organisations, and fast-growth, private capital entities on their journey towards a significant capital event.
Haynes said he was thrilled to have joined the Grant Thornton team in Sydney.
“As an experienced audit partner, I love working with people and making a difference every day for my clients, teams and fellow partners,” he said.
“The right audit partner makes a difference by helping their clients navigate the increasingly complex level of regulation and risk, while also giving stakeholders the confidence their underlying numbers are correct. I am very excited to be joining the Grant Thornton team and have the opportunity to work with such a dynamic and agile organisation.”
Haynes added that beyond work and professional achievements, he was passionate about making a difference in the broader community and served as a non-executive director and treasurer of Life Education Australia.
Grant Thornton noted Haynes possessed “vast experience” in guiding organisations through capital transactions, which included sales to private equity, IPOs and privatisations.
Simon Coulton, partner and head of audit and assurance at Grant Thornton Sydney, said Haynes’ key strengths were in applying a commercial lens to the audit process, expertly guiding directors and owners through complexity and skilfully advising on what truly matters, versus what was ‘nice to have’.
“We’re looking forward to having David as part of our audit and assurance practice, his credibility and specialist capability will be an asset for both our clients and people here at Grant Thornton,” Coulton said.
“David will hit the ground running in our Sydney office and will spend a large amount of time in the market over the next 12 months.”
