Moore Australia has appointed Gary Calford and Wilson Tang to the organisation’s Queensland and Victorian firms respectively.

Tax specialist Mr Calford joins from PKF Brisbane and before that worked as a director in EY’s tax practice.

With over 22 years’ experience, the firm said Mr Calford’s expertise took in international tax, corporate restructures, mergers and acquisitions, private tax issues, R&D tax incentives and tax-effect accounting.

Managing partner of Moore Australia (Queensland/Northern NSW) Greg Mallam said Mr Calford would be a welcome new resource for the firm’s clients.

“Gary’s appointment brings a fresh perspective and experience in complex tax transactions,” said Mr Mallam.

“He is renowned for developing and implementing innovative solutions and his depth of experience in all areas of tax will support our continued commitment to our clients — helping them thrive in a changing world.”

Moore Australia said Mr Calford would sit on its national tax committee, which collaborates on tax issues, provides advice, evaluates legislation and supports the network.

Mr Calford said he was excited to be joining a firm with a strong national and global presence.

“I look forward to being part of the continued growth of the firm and the opportunity to bring my experience to enhance the tax capability,” he said.

Mr Tang joined the Moore Australia Victorian office from Adidas, where he was the head of internal audit and based out of Hong Kong.

His 15-year career had involved both professional services and industry teams, where he focused on helping organisations to identify process gaps.

The CEO of Moore Australia’s Victorian firm, Steve Sakkas, said the firm was glad to bring someone of Mr Tang’s experience into the team.

“We are excited to welcome Wilson who brings with him a wealth of expertise having worked across Australia and internationally,” said Mr Sakkas.

“Wilson’s industry knowledge and his extensive experience will undoubtedly serve him well as he takes the reins of our governance and risk advisory team.”

With an extensive understanding of leading audits along with risk and assurance services, Mr Tang brought experience working with several ASX top 100 clients along with federal and state government agencies.

“The core values of Moore — passion, access, community and care — closely align with my personal values,” said Mr Tang.

“I wanted to join a value-driven network which keeps the delivery of the highest possible service at the heart of the business.”
