BDO has promoted five internal staff and appointed two ex-Big 4 directors to surpass the 250 partner milestone entering 2023.

The firm has named Josh Goulton from Deloitte as a risk advisory partner in the firm’s Greater Western Sydney office as well as Julianne Kennedy from EY as a people advisory partner based out of the firm’s Brisbane office.

BDO said Mr Goulton brought extensive experience managing large internal audit programs for Deloitte and had delivered complex and sensitive reviews to a variety of clients in the natural resource and government sectors.

Ms Kennedy joined with over a decade of consultancy experience both internationally and locally, and had been responsible for providing workforce optimisation and transformation along with implementing organisational change management and adopting emerging technologies, according to BDO.

Ms Kennedy would focus on supporting her clients to effectively harness and future-proof their workforce by providing guidance on workforce strategy, design, and execution.

The five internal promotions to partner:

  • Christian Patone - audit, Melbourne
  • Josh Carver - audit, Adelaide
  • Linh Dao - audit, Adelaide
  • Mitchell Witt - advisory, Brisbane
  • Benjamin Schierhuber - advisory, Cairns

BDO chief executive partner Tony Schiffmann was excited by the firm’s breaking the 250 partner milestone.

“I am proud to share the news that BDO has exceeded 250 in partner numbers,” said Mr Schiffmann. “[It] demonstrates the excellent calibre of people coming up through our strong pipeline of talent and our ability to attract outstanding professionals in a very competitive market.”

“I am proud of the culture we have created at BDO — one where we are focused on developing our people and encouraging everyone to undertake their work with purpose, quality and pride.”

“We are committed to continually developing and nurturing our future leaders, and seeing the talent exhibited across the firm makes it clear we have a strong future ahead.”

BDO now has 252 partners, up from 205 two years ago.
