Promotions demonstrate confidence in the potential for growth, they say.

KordaMentha and SW Accountants & Advisors have appointed 12 and four new partners respectively for the start of the 2022-23 financial year.

The promotions showed confidence in the strength of the business, said KordaMentha co-founder Mark Mentha.

“We’re building the bench strength of the firm with these promotions to our partnership, enabling us to deliver for our clients and anticipating continued growth of our business,” said Mr Mentha.

“It’s the expertise and leadership of our people, including our new partners, that will position KordaMentha for success over the next 20 years.”

The 12 partners will be covering different areas of the business:

  •         Real estate: Michael Butler, David Omond and Mario Papaleo
  •         Restructuring: Michael Korda and Jenny Nettleton
  •         Corporate: Sophie Gibbons
  •         Forensic: Catherine Lee
  •         Practice management: Carolyn Ashby, Mary Barnett, Trudi Sheppard, Ryan Wadsworth and Yvonne Willich

Fellow co-founder Mark Korda said that the promotions were a reward for demonstrations of confidence and commitment to doing things differently.

“A successful advisory business is built on the talent and drive of its people,” said Mr Korda.

“There’s also that extra capability we look for, the courage to back yourself and take a more innovative and entrepreneurial approach to delivering for clients.”

Chief executive of SW Accountants & Advisors, Duane Rogers, said its additional appointments showed the firm’s commitment to continued growth and service to clients.

“Their appointments truly reflect our continued growth and success, and our focus on supporting our people to achieve their career aspirations,” said Mr Rogers.

“The demand for outstanding talent in servicing our clients means we are well positioned to promote our people.”

The four appointed partners are Sejla Kadric, Michael Qin, Rick Hemphill and Yang Shi.

Ms Kadric, Mr Quin and Mr Hemphill will all be working within the business and private client advisory division while Mr Shi will be working within the tax division.

“We have a strong foundation for aspiring leaders in our business,” said Mr Rogers.

“We work hard at ensuring we provide opportunities for those people to develop key skills that will help support both our clients and our direction in the future.”

Founded in 2002, KordaMentha has grown to a team of over 400 specialists across the Asia Pacific providing specialist corporate, cyber security, forensic, real estate and restricting services.

SW Accountants & Advisors was founded in 1935 as Hughes Fincher and has grown to have 39 partners and over 300 staff across Australia and Hong Kong providing assurance, business advisory, corporate finance and tax consulting services.
