RSM Australia appoints 4 new partners

The company also appointed seven new principals and three new associate directors.

RSM Australia has made a sweeping round of promotions following its first national retreat since 2019 that involved more than 190 partners and principals gathered in Perth.

RSM Australia national chairman Jamie O'Rourke said that the new appointments pointed to the firm’s growth and development of its client service diversity, capacity and geographic reach.

“These new partner principal and associate director announcements demonstrate RSM Australia’s continued growth, evolution of talent diversity and focus on changing client needs,” Mr O'Rourke said.

The four new partners are Warren Fynn – business advisory, Mary Lai tax, Peter Kanellis – audit and assurance, and Jimmy Smit – business advisory.

Mr Fynn is based out of RSM Australia’s Wagga Wagga office and was previously the principal of the business advisory division of Wagga Wagga. He is a business and taxation specialist with expertise in succession planning and assisting families with the progression of their family businesses.

Ms Lai is based in RSM Australia’s Sydney office and is a member of RSM’s China practice group. Ms Lai was previously a principal and has expertise in tax services particularly international tax and tax compliance.

Mr Kanellis is also based out of Sydney and was previously a principal of the audit and assurance division. Mr Kannellis has expertise in International Financial Reporting Standards and has more than 11 years of experience providing external audit and assurance services.

Mr Smit is based in Katanning having joined RSM Australia’s business advisory division there in 2006. His expertise is in delivering cloud-based accounting solutions for his clients allowing businesses to make decisions on real-time information.   

Mr O'Rourke said: “Our unparalleled reach across both metropolitan and regional locations has also been reflected in the appointments, with nine RSM Australia offices represented including regional offices in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.”

The seven new principals appointed were, Belinda Crowley – tax, Shelby Earl – audit and assurance, Beenu Fernando – risk advisory, Albert Meintjes – corporate finance, Damian Sellitti – tax, Nathan Walter – business advisory, Aimee Whittingham – audit and assurance.

RSM Australia also appointed three associate directors, Sarah Manners – business advisory, Margaret Taylor – business advisory, and Ernest Ong – risk advisory.

RSM Australia was recently awarded the client choice award for best accounting and consulting services firm for the fourth year running.
