Former Accru national managing director Michael Burnett has been lured to specialist coaching company Slipstream after almost three decades running his own firm.
Accru Hobart has been a client of Slipstream since 2019 and Mr Burnett’s first-hand experience of what it could offer was instrumental in his decision, he said.
“Having an external coach and sounding board has been really helpful for me and the rest of the leadership at Accru Hobart,” he said.
“I am looking forward to being that support and external perspective for Slipstream clients willing to take action toward a better business.”
As well as leading his own Hobart practice, Mr Burnett has varied financial services experience including a stint as chairman of CPA Associates International, Asia-Pacific region, a leading body for independent accounting, legal and consulting firms.
The chief executive of Slipstream, Sharon McClafferty, said to be a coach with the group someone must have owned, operated and successfully exited their own accounting, financial planning or multidisciplinary business with a turnover between $1 million and $10 million.
“And on top of all of that, the person must want to continue to add value to the professions and have the right temperament to be a coach,” she said.
“Michael Burnett has all of this and more, we are thrilled for the current and future Slipstream clients that will benefit from his experience, advice and encouragement.”
Mr Burnett said running a business was fun and his focus was more than just the numbers.
“My role at Slipstream is to ensure we increase the happiness, satisfaction and profit for the people and businesses I coach,” he said.
“I’m keen to work with and on the people firstly, then the numbers. I’m here to change lives.”
Slipstream is a specialist coaching firm that focuses on accounting and financial planning professionals “who share our belief in living fulfilled, happy and purposeful lives”.
