Grant Thornton expands CFO advisory team
AppointmentsGrant Thornton has bolstered its Sydney-based CFO advisory team with the recruitment of an experienced financial professional.
John Askham has taken on a leadership role within the firm’s CFO advisory team, effective 21 February.
Mr Askham is a chartered accountant who joins from EY’s financial accounting advisory services team, also based in Sydney.
He brings extensive experience to his new role, having worked with a range of multinational and domestic clients, including CFOs and senior finance leaders, on financial accounting, reporting and process issues across a range of industries.
Mr Askham’s appointment follows that of Peter Barnikel (national head of CFO advisory) and reflects strong demand for these services, a statement from Grant Thornton said.
“CFOs and business leaders are facing increasing pressures and are focused on far more than a company’s finances,” Andrew Rigele, national head of audit and assurance, Grant Thornton, added.
“As expectations increase around quality documentation, robust processes and non-financial reporting, technical expertise and resourcing are compressed – and this has been exacerbated further in the current COVID business climate.
“Our business offers a full suite of services across financial advisory, tax, risk, technology and management consulting, and with the addition of John Askham to bolster the CFO Advisory team we can address a wider pool of clients and assist with the broad range of challenges they face.”
