Chartered accounting firm Sovereign Private has recruited Paul Marino as a director in its taxation services team.

Mr Marino, who is due to commence his role on 3 October 2017, has predominately focused his career on tax consulting with an emphasis on large private property construction groups.

He was most recently a senior manager in the PwC private client service tax team, and prior to that was a manager in the Deloitte private tax consulting team.

Sovereign Private was established by former tax leader and national leader of clients and markets at Deloitte Private, Paul Masters, in 2014. The firm has approximately 20 staff.

Accountants Daily understands Mr Masters walked away from the Deloitte practice in 2014 after generating over $3.5 million in fees.

The firm has various tax service lines, as well as a focus on "ultra high-net-worth" clients.

Its core philosophy is to provide boutique services which match or exceed the services of a big four firm.
