Grant Thornton has welcomed Ian McCall as a partner in its Melbourne-based growth advisory team.

Mr McCall was formerly chairman of the advisory board for the GNC Group Consulting, which merged with Grant Thornton on 1 September.

Mr McCall will help drive the implementation of GNC Group practices into Grant Thornton despite his appointment being separate to the merger, which saw five partners join Grant Thornton.

Mr McCall’s career includes serving on the board of Deloitte Australia and New Zealand, as well as holding roles as both managing partner and Asia-Pacific lead partner of Deloitte's strategy and operations practice.

Grant Thornton CEO Greg Keith said Mr McCall will enhance the company’s strategic advice capability to support the executive teams of larger clients.

“We were extremely impressed with Ian’s insights and knowledge throughout the merger discussions and are thrilled to bring him into our team,” Mr Keith said.

“There are currently 160 partners around the country and we aim to increase that to 200 in less than two years. New partners coming from GNC will provide significant experience in growth advisory and the retail sector, which are important focuses of the company.”
