After 16 years with Sage Australia, Michael Smith’s retirement has been confirmed with Accountants Daily.

Mr Smith began his time with Sage in 2001, as national professional services and education manager at Sage Handisoft.

He has held titles including managing director of payroll and HR service provider Sage MicrOpay and general manager at Sage Software.

Prior to working with Sage, Mr Smith founded and sold accounting businesses Software Connection and Ozbuy.

“As a chartered accountant, Michael's strengths are in aligning corporate goals with practical outcomes against set budget, timeline and resources,” a Sage spokesperson told Accountants Daily.

“He has experienced the growth of the industry from the start, and brings depth of thinking on the changing face of the accounting industry, as well as his vision for the future.”

Sage Australia has yet to confirm a replacement for Mr Smith.
