Canstar Blue has awarded Intuit QuickBooks top spot in its 2022 accounting software review of Most Satisfied Customers with a five-star rating for across eight factors.

According to Canstar’s market research, Intuit Quickbooks outperformed the market average on value, service, ease of use and integration, functionality, reporting and design.

An increase in overall satisfaction was driven by its reporting features and functionality, said Gabrielle Dracopoulos, head of customer success at Intuit Quickbooks Australia.

“Our product is built for small business owners and we continue to listen and understand their needs,” she said. “We want to power prosperity around the world and we do this by giving small business owners time back to do what they love.”

She said Intuit customers across a range of sectors, from shopping centres, standalone stores, commercial offices, farms and e-commerce, had found QuickBooks had helped to streamline their business.

“The world has seen a shift in how we approach work and life, in large part due to the pandemic with the rise of digital adoption and remote working. For many Australian small business owners, time is not something they have a lot of,” Ms Dracopoulos said.

Features rolled out this year for the software include:

  • Prep for Taxes – launched to streamline accounts preparation process at no extra effort or costs.

Chartered Accountant and founder of Infinance Solutions Tish Bhagwandeen said the feature saved an hour a day.

“Prep for Taxes gives me the ability to save supporting workpapers directly in the file, meaning you never have to send an email requesting documents such as bank statements,” she said. “This feature alone creates huge efficiencies especially if you have an external bookkeeper or other people working on the job with you.”

  • Books Review – helps to deliver accurate and timely accounts and activity statements to prepare for BAS lodgements.

Bookkeeper and virtual CFO at Total Bookkeeping & Business Solutions Alee Cochrane said: “One of my biggest tips for using the Books Review area in QuickBooks is that you can actually mark individual transactions. And from within that section you can ask the client to say what it’s for, so you can get the additional information you need to complete the work.”

The Canstar research found:

  • 43 per cent of respondents said their accounting software made their business operations easier.
  • 42 per cent generated invoices through their accounting software.
  • 34 per cent said their accountant recommended the software they were using.
