The Hays Quarterly Report, July – September 2015, contains good news for accountants in professional practice with strong jobs growth expected in various service lines across all tiers of the industry.
“Due to the increasing demand for professional services firms to provide financial advisory and financial management services to government, there is an increasing demand for consultants across the big four, second tier and boutique firms,” the report stated.
“In terms of skills in demand for the July to September 2015 quarter, as always there is a need for tax and business services accountants due to a general shortage of available candidates and staff in the profession moving into commerce and industry or government,” the report added.
There has also been increased demand for audit seniors with the big four resorting to looking at overseas candidates with relevant experience, the recruiter said.
“Given the number of hours the audit function requires, many experienced candidates move into financial accounting and this is creating extremely high demand for senior auditors.
“Since a large number of auditors secure commercial roles, the pipeline of talent in professional practice is not strong enough to replace them immediately.”
“Larger firms are recruiting internal auditors who they will market to their clients and who will work onsite. This is a positive revenue stream, and these professionals can follow-up on their external audit reviews," the report said.
