Siobhan Sellick joins the firm from William Buck, where she spent two years after a 17-year stretch with EY.
Ms Sellick admitted to AccountantsDaily she had initial reservations about joining a lesser known firm such as Prosperity but was won over by the progressive and flexible practice.
“When the opportunity was first brought to me I actually said no because I hadn’t even heard of the firm … but as soon as I met the team at Prosperity I realised that to me the whole one firm approach to business development and the teaming side of things is really what I was looking for.”
“Once I met the team I realised what a great firm it is in terms of being really progressive and flexible in nature – that was the big reason,” she said.
After “growing up” in a big four firm, Ms Sellick said she now enjoys the smaller firm environment and type of work she has been charged with at Prosperity.
“I work primarily with private clients – high net worth individuals, professional CEOs and private owned businesses – that type of work, and I think the smaller firms do it much more efficiently and more effectively.”
“I think the big end is very much focused on the larger corporate clients, so in terms of technology the broad advice, in my experience has been much greater in that mid-tier environment,” Ms Sellick said.
Prosperity Advisers chief executive officer, Allan McKeown said Ms Sellick’s appointment follows strong fee growth in the firm’s Sydney office last financial year.
“We have stepped up our recruitment activities and have assembled an expanded team of which Siobhan is a key member.”
“We have some excellent niche areas performing very well and accordingly expect this level of growth to continue.”
Ms Sellick told AccountantsDaily she was approached about the job out of the blue by a recruitment agency.
