PwC Australia is set to open its Higher Apprenticeship program for applications in Sydney and Melbourne in June, following a pilot program.
The program offers an alternative pathway to the more traditional graduate route within PwC. School leavers are able to join the firm without a degree while working and earning.
PwC is calling the fresh starters “apprentices.” They will work across six teams, on both client and internal projects.
“For PwC, it’s never been solely about your degree background, it’s about your potential. We're looking for the problem solvers, critical thinkers, those who are digitally savvy and have a passion for tech. We want people who can develop into being great communicators with clients and who can solve a problem and translate that in a meaningful way,” said Julie Duncan, talent acquisition leader at PwC.
After the completion of the program, if successful, apprentices will the given a shot at securing a graduate position. Following successful completion of the program, apprentices will be given the opportunity to advance their career and build their professional network by joining the Graduate program.
“I moved from Brisbane to Sydney to take up the opportunity. The people around me were so helpful and supportive making the transition from high school to work manageable and achievable,” said Tilly Cooper, a past apprentice.
“I got to gain experience working on a variety of projects, do real client work and harness my passion for technology as part of the technology consulting team. Following the program I got offered a graduate role and I am looking forward to continuing to develop my skills in this area and seeing where my career at PwC can take me.”
